Mindfulness and Meditation for Parents

A 6 week online course designed specifically for parents in the midst of the chaos…

How many times have you felt lost while parenting your child?

Tell me if this sounds familiar for you. You…

  • Swore you wouldn’t be the parent who yelled, yes there are those times when you catch yourself having no other option.

  • Had a regular meditation practice before the baby, but now it just doesn’t seem to fit in.

  • Worry about whether you are making the choices that will instill good habits for your children

  • Are just trying to get through each day without another tantrum

  • Often feel critical of whether you are being a good parent, and then wonder what that actually looks like?

  • Or, marvel at how other parents seem to be able to hold it all together in moments of crisis.

And the thing is that research shows that our interactions as parents DO actually have an impact on both our children, and on us!

I wish there were some magic wand I could wave and make every parent feel confident in their own skin, and make the process of parenting easier. Well, there isn’t a magic wand, but there is a practice.

Mindfulness during parenthood is one of the simplest and most profound practices we can use to enhance our parenting skills. Mindfulness is the awareness that arises from paying attention to the present moment, free of judgment or bias. Developing this capacity can strengthen relationships, help nurture a child’s development, and increase our own ability to cope with challenges and changes that are inherent in parenting itself.

And before you go saying that you don’t have time to do mindfulness, or that you’ve practiced it before and couldn’t quiet your mind let me explain.

This isn’t about sitting on a cushion for 20 minutes (or heck even 5!) This is about learning how to make friends with yourself and your current situation right where you are, right now! No bells needed (though they can be helpful)

Learn how to make friends with yourself, see your children as they are, and stay centered even in the midst of the chaos of family life. Learn how to practice in the midst of your daily life and how to take mindfulness “off the cushion” and into everyday interactions.

With this course you get:

  • Instruction in the foundational practice of mindfulness

  • Discussions of how to practice and make it a regular habit

  • Practice opportunities in each livestream session

  • Instruction on how to turn daily activities into opportunities for practice

  • Community support in beginning and sustaining a practice throughout the course and beyond

  • Instruction on everyday interactions can create compassion and acceptance- for our children, our families, and ourselves.

  • The latest research in potential practice outcomes which have been seen in the fields of psychology, biology, & neuroscience

Dates: 3/2/2023-4/6/2023 Thursdays 9:30am-11:00am
