What is Pelvic Floor Yoga?

Pelvic Floor Yoga is a practice which focuses on developing balanced strength and function in the muscles at the base of the pelvis. These muscles not only support and control organ function, but contribute to overall pelvic and core health and also guide the baby’s head through the pelvis during the birth process.

Many women are told to do “kegels” during pregnancy, but these often miss the mark in creating overall strength, and can often lead to too much tension. Pelvic Floor yoga sessions involve self assessment tools for students to discover their own relative tone, and then create a gentle, personalized practice to develop overall strength, prepare for birth, and lifelong pelvic health afterwards.
