The Benefits of Prenatal Yoga

  • Prenatal yoga classes provide modifications specifically designed for your changing body shape and hormonal fluctuations. Unlike regular yoga classes, which may include poses unsuitable for pregnancy, and contain cues which are not designed for female physiology, prenatal yoga focuses on safe, effective alignment and accessible postures. This reduces the risk of injury as your body becomes more pliable from hormonal changes, and focuses on bringing overall balance to your body for a more comfortable pregnancy and better birth preparation.

  • Prenatal yoga addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of pregnancy. Students are encouraged to adapt their practice to accommodate daily changes in their bodies, fostering a deeper connection with the evolving pregnancy experience, and learning how to best support their own individual movement patterns. Additionally, prenatal classes provide a platform to discuss common pregnancy discomforts and get solutions, creating a supportive environment for mothers-to-be.

  • In addition to physical practice, many prenatal yoga instructors incorporate techniques for childbirth preparation into their classes. With specialized training or expertise in childbirth education, they equip expectant mothers with tools for labor, such as breathing techniques and mental focus exercises. From positions, to breathing, to an understanding of how different movements intersect with the process of labor, this integrated approach helps pregnant women feel more empowered and confident as they approach childbirth.

  • Prenatal yoga classes offer pregnant women the opportunity to connect with others working with similar circumstances. By sharing experiences, concerns, and tips, participants build a supportive network that extends beyond the yoga studio. This community becomes a source of friendship, practical advice, and emotional support throughout the journey into motherhood, enriching the prenatal experience beyond the physical practice.

 What is Prenatal Yoga?

Prenatal yoga is a yoga practice designed specifically for the time during pregnancy. It aims to balance physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of the pregnancy and birth experience. Guided specifically to work with our female physiology as well as the realities of the journey to motherhood, prenatal yoga assists in childbirth preparation by promoting relaxation, and creating better overall space and structural balance within the body. The practice emphasizes safe techniques and poses suitable for all pregnancy stages.

  • "Bec is a master at her craft and yet she keeps learning and bringing new opportunities for the perinatal population. I took her prenatal yoga classes weekly and learned so much. Bec is just an awesome person and a wealth of knowledge for expecting moms and everything that comes after that."

  • “Thank you for all the education you have shared with us over the last months and for helping me get more in touch with my body. This baby was perfectly bullseye LOA and I could only imagine that’s why once things kicked off she was ready to rock. I felt so cared for and calm through most of this pregnancy, and like I was truly doing everything in my power to set us up for success before/during/after. Thank you for your incredible part in all of that! I can’t believe it all ended up like this and that she’s finally here!”

    – Courtney

  • “I found Bec relatively late in my pregnancy but, Thank God! I had a dream birth! I did my homework, I knew exactly what was going to happen, and I remained calm during the entire birth.”

    – Solveig G.

  • "I cannot thank you enough. All I learned in our class and my preparation paid off and I got to have my “redo” labor and birth. No epidural or pain medication or interventions. Labored at home using calm/surge breaths, got to the hospital at 7 cm dilated and baby was born within an hour of arriving at the hospital in 2 big pushes!”

    – Anonymous

  • “I've never been in an online yoga class where it felt so much like the teacher was with me and understood me and how to assist me!”

    – Jess

  • "I can’t thank you enough for all the mental and physical tools you gave me through our yoga practice."I must have seen your face and heard your voice telling me to lean in to the feeling, dance and be present numerous times that night as it got hard. Thank you!"
